Funds Availability Policy 

• Check deposits less than $1,000 are available immediately.


• Cash, GUASFCU Checks, Georgetown University Checks, US Postal Service Money Orders, Cashier’s and Certified Checks are available immediately.


• $300 of check deposits greater than $1,000 is available immediately.


• For check deposits greater than $1,000, the deposit less $300 will be frozen for
  • 2 business days if the checks are drawn off local institutions
  • 5 business days if the checks are drawn off non-local institutions

 

For deposits containing both local and non-local checks, two pledges will have to be entered into CUSA
•  Local checks are frozen for their full amount
•  Non-local checks are frozen for their full amount less $300

For example, a member deposits 3 checks:
•  $700 local check
•  $800 non-local check
•  $900 non-local check

The total deposit is $2,400, so you know that $2,100 will be frozen. The local check will be frozen for 2 business days and for $700 in CUSA. The non-local checks will be frozen for $1,400 and for 5 business days.
