Putting money into your account:

  • Making deposits
In addition to normal lobby hours, we have two drop boxes. The night drop is located between the Credit Union and Vital Vittles and the daily deposit box is located inside the credit union. You can leave a deposit in the night drop 24-hours a day and it will be posted to your account by close of the following business day. Deposits left in the daily deposit box will be credited to your account by close of the same day and will also be available at the ATM.

  • Depositing Money Remotely
You can always mail deposits to "GUASFCU. 3700 O Street, NW. Washington, DC. 20057". To quickly fund your account, you can send a wire transfer to the Credit Union. In addition, by taking advantage of direct deposit, you can have your paycheck electronically deposited to your Credit Union account.

  • Funds Availability
All checks deposited up to $1,000 are available for withdrawal in your account at the time of deposit. The first $100 of any check greater than $1,000 is available immediately, while the remainder will be frozen for 3 business days if the check is drawn of DC, MD or VA bank or 5 business days if drawn of any other domestic bank. During that period, you may not make withdrawals or write checks on the frozen balance. Should you have any questions, please feel free to speak with one of our managers.

  • Safety of deposit drop boxes
You can always leave deposits in the box and feel confident that they will be correctly credited to your account. Be sure to completely fill out a deposit slip that includes your account number. Also, be sure to sign your checks and write your account number on the back of each check. Put everything in a sealed envelope and write your name and account number on the front. For your protection, do not leave cash in the drop box.

  • What is direct deposit?
Direct deposit allows you to have all or part of your paycheck electronically deposited into your account on the morning of your payday. If you are a Georgetown University employee, download a georgetown direct deposit application and return it to georgetown payroll. If you are not a Georgetown employee, download our off campus direct deposit application and give it to your employer's payroll office. There is no charge for this service.

  • Sending a wire transfer
Sending a wire is the fastest way to put money into your Credit Union account. Wires are posted at 6:30pm, regardless of when they are received. To send a wire, see the documents section under eService to download wiring instructions.
